Process

Posted on May 1st, 2009

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot…”    Ecclesiastes 3

JasmineLife is an ongoing process of new beginnings, growth spurts, blossoming stages, bumps and hills (or steep slopes and rocky ravines for some), cruising and coasting, winding down, dying off, and starting all over again. Yet so many of us get attached to one or two stages of the process; some love the excitement of new beginnings, but get bored coasting, some just want the end result, getting frustrated in the middle, and some are so afraid of endings, they get stuck somewhere along the way.

Imagine what it would be like to be in the present moment with each stage of a process, enjoying the whole ride from beginning to end, not rushing, resisting, or avoiding any part of it, but embracing the natural cycle of life. Perhaps we would relax more in our work, accept more in our relationships, let go more of our judgments, and love ourselves and others more deeply.

Insights

What stage of the process are you in when you reflect on the various areas of your life (career, relationships, health, creativity, finances, spirituality etc.)?

What are your favorite stages in a process? What is it you enjoy about these stages?

What are your least favorite stages? What are you afraid of about them or what makes you uncomfortable? How do you handle these stages? What could you do to enjoy them more?

Inspiration

With the areas of your life that you are in your favorite stage of the process, find a way to honour this part of the process; feel the joy in it, share it with others, celebrate it.

With areas of your life that you are in your least favorite stage of the process, acknowledge your discomfort, release resistance, and remind yourself that this is just a part of a process you are moving through. Be kind to yourself and explore ways to be present and joyful during this part of the process.

When you are feeling stuck, stagnant or resistant in an area of your life, take a moment to close your eyes and feel the stuckness, stagnancy or resistance within yourself, then breathe in new life to that area with a few relaxing breaths. Imagine it loosening, releasing and letting go. See yourself moving into the natural flow of life, enjoying each part of the process. Let the energy of acceptance and neutrality fill your body with lightness and ease.

This is perfect timing, thanks Gini!

I’ve been feeling stuck for a few weeks now — and today was definitely drudgery. I love your advice to take a moment and breathe…natural flow of life…and ACCEPT the drudgery with the flights of success…for that is life.

By the way, I went purple with my See Jane Soar blog, too….I just think that’s so cool that we both chose it! I changed from the blue paint splotches a couple weeks ago, and have been playing with all sorts of designs ever since.

Anyway, thanks for your lovely message and inspiration.

    Laurie
