“We are the yin and the yang of the creative process.” ~ Cynthia Weil
Soft, gentle, nurturing, surrendering to what is. This feminine essence flows throughout all life forms bringing balance to the active, energetic, masculine essence. Without this yin/yang balance life becomes either too slow and stagnant at one extreme, or over busy and pushy at the other.
Unfortunately our world has become masculine dominant over the centuries, denouncing the feminine as weak and passive. We’ve seen this displayed as aggression, manipulation and control in nations, governments, financial institutions, and corporations. But when we look closely, we see it in ourselves too. We catch ourselves pushing beyond our limits, driven to success, over busy with activities. We fear that if we slow down everything will fall apart.
On the contrary, when we take a break from ‘doing’ and move into ‘being’ we discover a resurgence of creative energy. The masculine yang force becomes choppy, unfocused and hard if it is not infused with the feminine yin. There is much power in this subtle female energy. It gives birth to all forms of creation including artwork, inspiring projects, and intimate relationships.
Fortunately we are now evolving into a higher level of consciousness which is calling forth the feminine energy within each of us. If we don’t heed this call we will tire and burn out more quickly than ever before. Now is the time to slow down, connect with the moment, and allow this intuitive energy to blossom.
Insights into Feminine Energy
♦ How balanced is your masculine, yang and your feminine, yin energies? What portion of any given day do you spend being busy, active, doing, thinking, planning etc.? And how much time is devoted to relaxing, nurturing, and allowing things to unfold in divine timing?
♦ What triggers your male energy into action? Does it come from inspiration or from pressure, should and responsibility?
♦ What supports your female energy to flow? Do you have to be exhausted to take a break or do something nurturing, or do you give yourself time to simply be, to rest, to connect with nature?
Inspiration for Balancing Feminine and Masculine
♦ Tune into the flow of your own feminine energy. Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Feel into the nurturing essence of your female energy which is in both male and female bodies. Let it flow through your whole body until you feel a softening, relaxing effect. Let go of any messages that say female is too passive or weak. Touch into the truth.
♦ Tune into your masculine energy. Set your intention to activate it within your body. Feel into its vibration. Notice the rhythm and pace of it. Choose to release any pressures or concepts of male or masculinity.
♦ Balance your masculine and feminine energies by consciously choosing them. When you feel over busy, or as though you are pushing or controlling, slow down into just being. Smell the flowers, do something creative, watch a child play or be awed by nature. If you feel sluggish or bored, start a project, plan an activity, or do something physically active. Play with blending your female and male energies as well. Bring ‘being’ into ‘doing’ by connecting with all of your senses as you do a task or activity.
