Openness

“I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than one closed by belief.” Gerry Spence

1151725_fields_updatedOpenness is an open hearted, open minded, genuine way of being in the world. It’s a place of softness, spaciousness, and lightness. It’s where possibilities and inspiration live.

With an open heart love emanates from our very being into the world unobstructed. We are safe when our love flows fully. Shut down, our heart becomes hardened and vulnerable. Open, we embrace ourselves and others with tenderness, compassion and joy.

With an open mind, we experience life first hand rather than analyzing it through our beliefs and programming. We are open to new ideas and understandings beyond our ego’s views of reality. We know there is so much more to life than we see with our physical eyes.

When our body is open and relaxed, our life force moves easily through our physical form; cleaning, clearing and supporting us to have optimal health and energy. We look and feel flexible and vibrant.

Openness is how our spirit lives; it knows no other way of being. As we center within our spiritual selves, we open to our higher truth, wisdom and knowingness. We see the bigger picture beyond dualities of right and wrong, good and bad, us and them. We step into the oneness and wholeness of life.

Insights on Openness

Where is your mind open and where is it closed? What areas do you let family, cultural, religious, or societal conditioning dominate you and prevent you from opening up to broader views?

Are you open hearted? How open is your heart at this time? What causes it to close down? What supports it to open up? How does it feel to have an open heart versus a closed heart?

How open, relaxed and flexible is your body these days? Where do you carry tension or tightness? What are you holding onto? What emotions are you clamping down on? What would happen if you brought openness to your body and emotions?

Inspiration for Opening Up

To become more open minded explore other beliefs, ideologies and world views - particularly in areas where you are easily triggered into judgment or fear. Adopt another’s viewpoint to see what it’s like. Let go of opinions in a conversation and just listen with neutrality.

Open your heart by taking time each day to turn inward and connect with the love within you. Turn up the volume on it and let it flow through your entire body down to the cells. Whenever you feel wounded by another, instead of closing your heart as a way to protect, which only shuts down your own access to love, open your heart and nurture yourself with love. Then embrace the other with loving compassion and forgiveness.

Open your body through relaxation, movement and energy awareness. When you notice tension or stress in your body, take a deep breath and on the exhale, let go of holding. Allow emotions to surface, vibrate and release. Move into a state of non-resistance and feel your energy and life force flow through your body.
