Patience

“With time and patience the mulberry leaf becomes a silk gown.” Chinese Proverb

patient-streamPatience is the space between your dreams and their manifestation. It’s a gentle knowing and a deep trusting that all good things come in time, and that challenging times eventually pass.

When we want to achieve a goal so desperately we push and prod and try to rush the process, we end up frustrated and exhausted. If we resist an uncomfortable experience, we thwart the possibility of growth and healing. When we embrace patience, the universe supports our endeavors.

The same goes when interacting with others. If we become impatient, we end up alienating those we love. When we give people the time and space to learn, make mistakes and evolve, they blossom and we benefit as a result.

Patience requires awareness, acceptance and allowing: awareness of not only the goal, but the big picture; acceptance of the ebb and flow of pieces coming together; and allowing the process to unfold in its own timing.

From our mental perspective we can’t always see what’s going on behind the scenes, or understand why some things take longer than others. But when we center within and look at life through our spiritual eyes, we have an intuitive knowing of what’s taking place. It may not make sense to our intellect, but our heart and soul know that everything is unfolding in divine order.

Insights into Patience

Where is it easy for you to be patient? What supports this? Where do you often get impatient? What triggers this?

Reflect over your current dreams and goals. Which ones are you at ease with and which ones are you pushing and prodding?

How do you handle life challenges? When you come upon an obstacle, health issue, or problem do you go into effort, hopelessness or worry, or do you touch into your higher awareness, acceptance, and trust in order to allow the process to reveal what needs to take place for healing and resolution?

Inspiration on Patience

Close your eyes and take a few relaxing breaths. Become aware of yourself as a spiritual being, expansive and powerful. Envision a symbol such as a flower that represents patience. Notice its gentle quality. Touch into the essence of it. Feel the gentle, easy energy of patience flow through your body from head to toe and down into the cells. Breathe it in and out and then open your eyes and take it with you.

As you go through your day, if find yourself rushing or becoming impatient, pause and retune to the essence of patience. Let your body match this relaxed vibration and then carry on.

Whenever you become impatient with yourself, another, a goal, or a problem reflect on what underlies this. Is fear or worry distracting you from your higher truth? Is desire tempting you to go faster than what is appropriate? Whatever it is, say hello to it and then blanket it with patience. Trust that you have all the time and resources available to you.
